Spyros Pan – Omega (2011)
In 2010 I acquired three new Hang like instruments aka “Handpans”; two Halos and one Bells from Bellart. Additionally, together with instrument maker Richard Bowring, we have conceptualized a monochord with a concave side that can be placed on the human body for sound bathing sessions.
New compositions were flowing through my heart like a running river and in October 2010 I entered studio to record them. My efforts resulted in a 14 track album. In most of the tracks I play on two or three handpans simultaneously. The CD also features one track with vocalist Johanne Staiquly and theremin elements by Danai Nielsen. Following a more daring approach to my debut album I employ more sound effects such as delays, reverb, reverse sounds and field recordings of trains, conversations, and nature sounds obtained from my travels around the world.
One track is played by “Hyades” the nymphs of rain according to the Greek mythology. I left a Halo under the rain and the moment was captured with a microphone positioned inside the interior of the instrument. The mood of the music is relaxing and inspires internal journeying.

Spyros Pan – Hanging on a dream (2009)
HOAD is an invitation to the magical sonic spectrum of the Hang. Twelve original compositions recorded in studio. 60 minutes of drifting melodies, meditating ragas and bubbling energy packed in a well presented digipack which ncludes a 16 page booklet featuring abstract photography, philosophy, poetry and information about the Hang.
The Hang is experienced in many ways and capturing the “singing” of the instrument proves to be a challenge for any sound engineer.
This recording represents an audiophile endeavour at its best. For the task of recording this album the legendary NEVE 8078 40/32 analog console has been employed alongside 12 high end microphones in one of Athens’ best studios. Each track was individually mixed down and the final result is an organic fusion of frequencies. The mastering & printing were completed in the UK. Released in November 2009.
